My Approach

In my practice, I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and adults; I also sub-specialize in women’s mental health. I employ a developmental and intersectional lens when working with clients. This means I conceptualize current concerns within the context of one’s upbringing and family system, while considering the role of race, ethnicity, sexual and gender orientation, culture, and religion. I provide gender-affirming and culturally conscious psychotherapy. My work also draws upon concrete strategies informed by dialectical (DBT) and and cognitive behavioral therapies (CBT). My goal is to work with clients to develop a deeper understanding of themselves, in order to help them thrive and communicate more effectively with peers and loved ones, as well as manage difficult presenting issues and life transitions.

Areas of Expertise

Child Therapy

I provide individual therapy for children presenting with a variety of concerns, including, but not limited to: behavioral difficulties, anger, anxiety and fear, bullying, coping with divorce, depression, trauma, grief and loss. For children, play is the most effective means to communicate their feelings and emotions. My approach utilizes play therapy to help children gain a deeper understanding and mastery over their experiences. I also utilize CBT interventions to equip children with skills to understand and manage their feelings in different settings. Child therapy is accompanied by parent sessions.

Adolescent Therapy

Adolescence is a significant developmental period, accompanied by cognitive and emotional changes. I work with adolescents to develop a strong alliance, anchored in confidentiality and trust, to help them communicate their experiences and manage the stressors that accompany this stage. I work with adolescents on a range of issues, including, but not limited to: anxiety and mood disorders; trauma; grief and loss; relationship issues; family issues; identity concerns; and self-esteem and confidence. Parent sessions are done in conjunction with individual adolescent work.

Adult Therapy

In addition to child and adolescent therapy, I work with adults and sub-specialize in women’s mental health. Areas of specialization include but are not limited to:

LIFE TRANSITIONS & IDENTITY DEVELOPMENT
Professional and personal transitions can be both rewarding and stressful. I support individuals in navigating the challenging parts of life changes in order to  help them feel the most fulfilled. Personal transitions can also serve as a catalyst for shifts in our identity, both exciting and difficult. I work with clients to deepen understanding of identity in order to develop a more integrated sense of self.

RELATIONSHIPS
Relationships can be at once the most fulfilling and the most challenging parts of our lives. I work with clients to help them understand and navigate issues that arise in romantic, platonic, familial, and professional relationships.

THERAPY FOR WOMEN
I specialize in working with women around issues related to professional and relationship challenges - including boundary setting and self-advocacy; infertility struggles; as well as pregnancy and motherhood transitions. I work with clients to develop an understanding of how their own life experiences, coupled with society’s expectations for women, inform their current functioning. I help women develop skills that allow them to invest in strengths and shift away from dynamics that are no longer functional.

Dyadic Therapy

I have extensive experience providing attachment-based therapy to parents with their infants/toddlers. Navigating the relationship with an infant or young child can prove stressful and challenging, particularly for mothers experiencing postpartum depression, social isolation, grief, or who have their own trauma history.  In dyadic therapy, I help you make sense of the complicated emotions you might be experiencing so that you can more effectively bond with your baby or toddler. Supporting and enriching your relationship with your young child through dyadic therapy also aids in your baby’s social-emotional development.
