My Approach

In my practice, I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and adults; I also sub-specialize in women’s mental health. I employ a developmental and intersectional lens when working with clients. This means I conceptualize current concerns within the context of one’s upbringing and family, while considering the role of race, ethnicity, sexual and gender orientation, culture, and religion. I provide gender-affirming and culturally conscious psychotherapy. My goal is to work with clients to develop a deeper understanding of themselves in order to help them thrive and communicate more effectively with peers and loved ones, as well as manage difficult presenting issues and life transitions.

Areas of Expertise

Child Therapy

I provide individual therapy for children presenting with a variety of concerns. For children, play is the most effective way to communicate their feelings and emotions. My approach utilizes play therapy to help children gain a deeper understanding and mastery over their experiences, coupled with skill development to understand and manage their feelings in different settings. Child therapy is accompanied by parent sessions.

Adolescent Therapy

Adolescence is a significant developmental period, accompanied by cognitive and emotional changes. I work with adolescents to develop a strong alliance, anchored in confidentiality and trust, to help them communicate their experiences and manage the stressors that accompany this stage. Parent sessions are done in conjunction with individual adolescent work.

Adult Therapy

In addition to child and adolescent therapy, I work with adults and sub-specialize in women’s mental health. Conditions treated include, but are not limited to:

  • Anxiety

  • Mood disorders

  • OCD

  • Trauma

  • Grief and loss

  • Life transitions

  • Relationship issues

  • Self identity development

  • Pregnancy, infertility, and postpartum concerns

Dyadic Therapy

I have extensive experience providing attachment-based therapy to parents with their infants/toddlers. Navigating the relationship with an infant or young child can prove stressful and challenging, particularly for mothers experiencing postpartum depression, social isolation, grief, or who have their own trauma history.  In dyadic therapy, I help you make sense of the complicated emotions you might be experiencing so that you can more effectively bond with your baby or toddler. Supporting and enriching your relationship with your young child through dyadic therapy also aids in your baby’s social-emotional development.
