Getting Started

 

FIRST STEPS

The first step in getting started is to book a consultation with me. This is typically a brief, 15 minute phone call to get a sense of what’s bringing you to therapy. You can schedule a consultation with me by filling out this contact form, or giving me a call at 929.266.4705. If I am unavailable to answer your call, you can leave me a message on my confidential voicemail and I will get back to you within two business days.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?

Individual sessions are 45 minutes long. The first few sessions differ from typical individual sessions. In addition to understanding what brings you to therapy and how you’ve been coping so far, I will also gather information about your history, family, upbringing, and relationships. We will spend some time getting to know one another in order to determine whether proceeding in treatment with me makes sense. If it is your child or adolescent who is in need of treatment, I will ask you questions about your child’s current issues and his/her/their history.

FEES

I am an out-of-network provider, which means I do not accept insurance. That being said, many individuals receive out-of-network benefits. Individuals covered by insurance who receive out-of-network benefits are often reimbursed between 50%-90% for psychotherapy sessions after meeting your deductible. Prior to your appointment, please inquire with your insurance company to see what out-of-network coverage for mental/behavioral health services is offered. Helpful questions to ask your insurance company include:

  • Do I have out-of-network coverage for outpatient psychotherapy (CPT code 90834)?

  • What is my deductible and have I met it yet?

  • What is my coinsurance (% that your insurance company will pay after your deductible has been met)?

I collect payment at the end of each session and provide clients with an invoice at the end of the month that you submit to your insurance company. I accept cash, check, or Zelle (an app that transfers money between bank accounts without a fee).

CANCELLATION POLICY

If you need to cancel your session for any reason, I ask that you do so 48 hours in advance, otherwise you are responsible for the cost of your session. If you cancel with less than 48 hours but we are able to reschedule you within the same week, I will not charge you for the cancelled session. Please be advised that insurance companies do not reimburse you for missed session fees.

LOCATION

My office is located in midtown Manhattan, near many major subway lines. I see clients in person 1 day per week and conduct remaining sessions virtually, through a HIPPA compliant telehealth platform.
